Check out this time lapse at Haʻakulamanu (Sulphur Banks)! Fumes emitted here include sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. These two gases react chemically to produce native sulfur, a yellow mineral known to Hawaiians as kūkaepele. Sulfur is deposited on the rocks, while the water vapor condenses to make steam.
