The Kinetoscope is an early motion picture exhibition device. By inserting a coin and turning a hand crank, users set a drum of still photographs into motion. As the images rapidly flipped past a lens, they produced the illusion of movement, much like a flipbook. Its straightforward design and ease of use made it a favored alternative to the Kinetoscope."
